Homemade Lahmacun
Paper-thin dough spread with spiced minced beef and vegetables, baked in a very hot oven.
Ingredients
- 3 cups flour
- 1 tsp dry yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup water
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 250 g ground beef
- 1 onion
- 1 tomato
- 1 green pepper
- ½ bunch parsley
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tbsp pepper paste
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes
- black pepper (to taste)
- 1 lemon
Method
- Knead the flour, yeast, salt, lukewarm water and oil into a soft dough; cover and rest for 30 minutes.
- Blend the onion, tomato, pepper and parsley and drain off the excess liquid; mix with the beef, pastes, pepper flakes, salt and pepper.
- Heat the oven as hot as it goes (250°C). Divide the dough into 8 balls and roll each out very thinly.
- Spread a thin layer of the topping over each.
- Bake on the lowest rack for 6–8 minutes until the edges brown; serve with parsley and lemon.
